Cancer Action Partnership

What is the Harrogate Cancer Action Partnership?

Harrogate Cancer Action Partnership meets about five times a year and is made up of a group of patients, carers, family members and workers interested in improving services for all people living with cancer. The group works with Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust and other statutory and voluntary organisations to work together to ensure that cancer services meet the needs of those who use them.  The group feeds into the Cancer Steering Group, responsible for the planning and development of services.

What Does it Do?

The group meets five times a year at Community House in Harrogate. Meetings are informal and anyone is welcome to attend.
The group also produces a newsletter to keep people up to date who cannot attend the meetings.
Any out of pocket expenses such as bus or train fares and car mileage can be reimbursed.

What are the aims of the Partnership?

* To give a voice to users of cancer services and their carers
* To encourage real improvements to existing cancer services
* To help plan and develop new services
* To eable users of services and healthcare professionals to meet on an equal footing

Why involve patients and carers?

The Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust and the North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust are keen to work with patients and carers to gain a better understanding of what really matters to people who use cancer services.
Working together can make sure that cancer services meet the needs of those who use them.
