Come and Join Us In A Celebration of Volunteering!

National Volunteers week this year runs from 1-7th June 2008 and is the UK's annual celebration of the amazing work carried out by all volunteers.

As a part of these celebrations, Harrogate and Area Volunteer Centre would like to invite you to join us in:

A Celebration of Volunteering

Tuesday 3rd June 2008

Lower Hall, Wesley Chapel, Harrogate

From 1-4pm

This celebratory event will be a fun, informal and interactive chance to learn more about a variety of voluntary organisations and meet with existing volunteers - both human and animal!

There will be a range of goods and crafts, plus entertainment, refreshments, tombola and much more!

Existing volunteers from any organisation are also invited to come along and enjoy the celebration, and the Mayor of Harrogate will be taking the chance to formally thank
them for all that they do. If you are a volunteer and wish to attend, please click here to
let us know you will be coming so that we can include you in the celebrations too!

Which voluntary organizations will be there?

There will be a diverse range of organizations including the Volunteer Centre, Orb Enterprise, RSPCA, Carers Time Off, Age Concern, Harrogate Hospital Friends, Horticap, Henshaws, British Thyroid Foundation, Canine Concern, Opening Doors for Disabled People, Supporting Older People, Samaritans, British Red Cross, The Stroke Association, Guides, Child Line, Epilepsy NSE, MS Support and the Youth Offending Team.

It sounds great - what do I need to do now?

Just come along on Tuesday 3rd June to the Wesley Chapel (please click here for directions). The event will start at 1pm and should be finished by 4pm. Please feel free to come with a friend if you want to - there is no need to book a place.

Other National Volunteers Week Events 

There will be display boards with lots of information about how you can get involved with the local community in Bilton and Starbeck Libraries from Monday 2nd June - Friday 13th June 2008.

We will also be out and about on the Mobile Library on Thursday 5th June visiting Littlethorpe, Bishop Monkton, Burton Leonard, Copgrove, Staveley, Ferrensby, Arkendale and Minskip. For locations and times please click here.
