Where our information comes from
Most of our information is about grant making charitable trusts. We have records on about 1500 of them, including our own research about local trusts. We also hold information about other non-statutory funders, the various Lottery Boards, and larger schemes such as Comic Relief.
The information comes from a variety of sources, including:
All the major general directories of grant making trusts eg. Directory of Grant Making Trusts, A Guide to the Major Trusts volumes 1 and 2 published by the Directory of Social Change
Specialist directories, such as A Guide to Local Trusts in the North of England, published by the Directory of Social Change and The Arts Funding Guide
Information packs and guidelines produced by the trusts themselves
Journals, newsletters and the Internet

HOW TO GET HELP

How to get help
Give us a call on 01423 504074 or email cvs@harrogate.org to make an appointment to see us.
When you contact us, please give us details of:
what you want funding for and whether you have a deadline by which to raise the money.
It would also be helpful if you let us know:
who you are currently funded by
whether you are currently pursuing any applications for funding
whether or not you are a registered charity

There are some things we can't or don't do:
We don't give grants and we can't write your funding application for you, although we can offer advice
We can't approach a funder for you or recommend you to a funder

FunderFinder
The computer based FunderFinder system is also available at the CVS for both Groups in Need and People in Need. FunderFinder is a searchable database of all the grant making trusts, so you can search for sources of funding by geographical area, client group, type of project etc.

Who can get help?
Help is available to all voluntary and community groups operating in the Harrogate area.  Members of CVS receive a monthly Funding Bulletin. Contact the CVS on 01423 504074 or email cvs@harrogate.org for details of how to become a member.
You can use the information service as many times as you like. So please get back to us if you have another different enquiry in the future, or would like updated records of funders.
You can also help us by letting us know about the outcomes of your funding applications, so that we can build a fuller and more accurate picture of what trusts might fund in the future.
