Volunteer Co-ordinators and Managers Network
The Volunteer Co-ordinators and Managers Network meetings provide an opportunity for everyone who has a role in recruiting and managing volunteers to share experience and access support with this role.
Meetings are usually informal - focussing on a topic of interest introduced by one or two members or an outside visitor, and then opened up for general discussion. Meetings have focussed on Volunteer Expenses, Diversity, Engaging Business Volunteers, Saying No to Unsuitable Volunteers, References, Producing Effective Leaflets, Supervising Volunteers, Working with Volunteers with Extra Support Needs and Exit Interviews, Coping with the death of a volunteer, Risk Assessment, What Motivates Volunteers?
Occasionally meetings are replaced with more formal and longer training sessions – recent training has included Writing Press Releases, Supporting and Supervising Volunteers, and Time Management for the Overstretched Volunteer Manager
Please let Harriet at the Volunteer Centre know if there is a subject that you would like to discuss at a meetings, or for us to organise training about.
Meeting dates for 2008
There's a new look to meetings for 2008 - they will be held in different places, a number of organisations having offered to host them so members can see how others work.
Please note also new times - meetings will generally be from 10-11am

Gemma from Carers' Resource will give an overview of some of the issues she faces recuiting and managing volunteers in a variety of settings. Carers' Resource has recently been awarded the Investing in Volunteers standard.
