Volunteer Centre Photography Competition
York and North Yorkshire Volunteer Centre Network Photography Competition
To celebrate National Volunteers Week, which runs from 1-7th June each year, the Volunteer Centres across North Yorkshire are inviting people to take part in a unique competition. One lucky winner will win the fabulous prize of an overnight stay with dinner for two people in one of Harrogate’s premier hotels!
We are looking to capture volunteering through the eyes of a lens, and create a unique, interesting and original series of images, which can be used to promote volunteering across the County. We are encouraging people to take a fresh look at volunteering and to challenge the stereotypes about volunteering that exist, and want the images entered into the competition to reflect this. Photographs may be taken on digital cameras or mobile phones.
Entries are welcome from all members of the public, photographic associations, Voluntary Organisations, people who volunteer and people who are interested in learning about volunteering. If you need help in finding a suitable subject to photograph, please contact your local Volunteer Centre for help.
To take part in the competition, all you need to do is take a photograph of something that reflects what volunteering means to you, and then submit it via email to volunteeringphotographs@googlemail.com, with your contact details, entry form and consent form that can be found on this page. Closing date for entries is 12.00 Monday 24th May.
Terms and Conditions
Entry to the competition is by email only. Please submit photographs to volunteeringphotographs@googlemail.com with your name, address and telephone number. Any photographs submitted without these details will be disqualified.
A signed Entry Form and Consent Forms (see left of page) for all photographs will need to be printed off and forwarded with your contact details to:

Photographs must have been taken by the entrant within the last 12 months. The photograph competition is to ‘capture volunteering through the eye of a lens’.
Entry to the competition is free and does not depend on making any purchases or using the services of any of the competition organisers (York and North Yorkshire VC Network).
Entry to the competition is open to any individual, organisation or representative of any organisation, including but not limited to, volunteer involving organisations.
Permission for us to use the photograph for publicity must be obtained from anyone photographed and a consent form signed by the individuals featured in the photograph/s.
Up to three images can be submitted per entrant. Digital photographs should be taken at the highest resolution possible and must be in a .jpeg format.
The prize is not transferable and cannot be substituted for a cash alternative. The voucher for twin or double room for a 1 night stay plus dinner, bed and breakfast in the Old Swan Hotel, Harrogate, must be used by September 2010. Any extra costs incurred during the stay, including transport to and from the hotel, must be covered by the winner.
The closing date for the competition is 12.00 midnight on the 24 May 2010. Entries will not be accepted after this time.
The winner will be informed of the decision by email or telephone within one week of the closing date of the competition.
The competition organisers (York & North Yorkshire Volunteer Centre Network) reserve the right to use the photographs submitted for publicity and advertising purposes without any payment. By entering the competition you hereby agree to assign the copyright and any other intellectual property right in any entry to Harrogate & Area Council for Voluntary Service on behalf of the competition organisers (York & North Yorkshire Volunteer Centre Network), who will use such images as they see fit for the purposes of promoting volunteering across York and North Yorkshire.
Harrogate & Area Council for Voluntary Service may make, at its discretion, images available for use for publicity and advertising purposes, without payment, to other Volunteer Centres who are members of Volunteering England.
Judging will be conducted by an Independent Panel of three people. The decision of the judges will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
By entering this competition, applicants agree to be bound by the above Terms and Conditions.
