An important part of what the Volunteer Centre does is to provide advice, guidance and support to all our registered organisations on all aspects of Volunteer Management. We strongly encourage and promote best practice when working with Volunteers, and welcome requests for help, support and training. If we don't know the answer, we know a man who does!

We offer support to organisations via the following:

  • Access to an E-mail network, where we will keep you up to speed with news, relevant information, offers of particular skills from volunteers, offers of groups of volunteers for "team challenge" style projects and anything else we think you may find relevant.
  • We host bi-monthly volunteer managers and co-ordinators network meetings, held in different locations across the district. These usually last an hour, and are a chance to discuss a particular topic, peer network and exchange ideas and best practice. For meeting dates and locations for 2010, please click here.   • We produce a bi-monthly newsletter - VolCanO, which is sent out with the CVS mailing to affiliated members. Previous copies are available by clicking here and navigating to the bottom left hand side of the page.
  • We host an E-forum for Volunteer Managers and Co-ordinators - a secure space in which you can E-network, exchange ideas and best practice or just have a natter! To access the forum, please contact us for log in details.
  • We hold yearly Volunteer Management Training - usually held in the Autumn over 5 1/2 day sessions, this comprehensive course covers all aspects of Volunteer Management from recruitment to problem solving.
